Public service announcements for “Food, Inc.”
In June 2009, Ellen joined Kelly Preston, Martin Sheen and Alyssa Milano to support a tougher Childhood Nutrition Act. After viewing the new film “Food, Inc.”, which hit theaters in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, the celebs were moved to take action and filmed public service announcements (PSA) that will air online and on television.
A half of a year later, TakePart, LLC finally put the video clips featuring Ellen online. In the three short clips, you can watch her answering your questions on eating healthy (on the go) and about how your food choices effects the environment. After taking part in the US Campaign for Burma, designing and signing an item for the Annual Celebrity Lunchbox Auction, giving a pep talk to leafleteers ready to protest “Proposition 8” and participating in the upcoming “2012: Time for Change” documentary, this was the fifth time the Canadian actress takes a firm stand and uses her celebrity status to spread the word about issues she cares about. Especially when it comes to change our food system her appeal should be heard because there is something everyone can do. Stop drinking sodas and other sweetened beverages, eat at home instead of eating out, go without meat one day a week (Meatless Mondays), buy organic or sustainable food with little or no pesticides or enjoy some fresh fruits and vegetables instead of pizza, burgers and all those snacks are only a few of many examples.
