Sian Heder's »Tallulah« will be screening at Sundance London in June and released worldwide by Netflix in July from 04/25/2016
Sundance Film Festival: London

The Sundance Institute has revealed the selection of films from its flagship January festival that will be coming to the British capital from June 2 to 5. The lineup of the fourth edition of the Sundance Film Festival: London consists of 11 features and 15 shorts including »Tallulah«, which is going to have its international premiere there on the opening day at 7:00 PM. The event will take place at the new Picturehouse Central theater in the heart of the British capital's West End and general tickets are going on sale on May 9. You can find more information at www.sundance-london.com. But even if you are living outside of the United Kingdom you actually don't have to wait long for a chance to see Sian Heder's directorial debut. Netflix has just announced the worldwide release on July 29, 2016!

Imagine Film FestivalFurthermore, we would like to take the opportunity to congratulate »Into the Forest« director Patricia Rozema and her crew for winning the Black Tulip Award, the jury prize at the 32nd Imagine Film Festival in Amsterdam! In her short acceptance speech via video message Rozema said she is proud to receive such an award from the land of her forefathers and mothers and she hopes that someone wants to distribute the film in the Netherlands now. This is a statement from the jury:

"The intelligence of the female protagonists in Patricia Rozema’s story about two sisters that face the aftermath of a massive disaster in a remote part of North America impressed the jury. The sisters are resourceful, they grow food when supplies run out, they turn to practical matters after a violent, traumatic event, they help each other. We never learn what the apocalyptic event entails, but that is not really necessary. The director relies on the intelligence of her audience; she knows what we know, that is, she knows what kind of stories we have in our head. And she plays with that knowledge. She strips the narrative in order to focus on the psychology of the characters. In doing so the film confronts us with questions that define our lives: what will happen when everything you know and hold dear falls away? The jury was touched by this. And surprised, because the story turns out to be quite subversive in the sure-footed way in which a typically male genre is handled here. Just how subversive, we suggest, you make out for yourself."

The drama film will be released in Canada on June 3 and in the United States on DirecTV on June 23 and theatrically on July 29 in New York City and Los Angeles with expansion to follow.

And finally, you might be interested to learn that Canadian actress and model Nina Dobrev, who is probably best known for her roles as Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce in the TV show "The Vampire Diaries", is reportedly in negotiations to star opposite Ellen Page and Diego Luna in Sony's upcoming remake of "Flatliners". Filming on the project is expected to begin in early July.
